See who's watching.
Take it back.
Black Crow Recon is a free Windows app that scans your own PC for hidden tracking, spyware, and shady network connections — then helps you shut them down. No account. No cloud. Nothing ever leaves your machine.
Privacy isn't paranoia. It's knowing what your own computer is doing.
No fear required. Here's the plain-English version of what's going on under the hood — and why a local-only tool is the honest way to deal with it.
What "telemetry" means
Telemetry is data your apps and Windows quietly send about how you use them. Some is harmless. Some isn't. Recon shows you what's actually phoning home.
What trackers reveal
Trackers and metadata can expose your location, your habits, and who you talk to. Small signals add up to a surprisingly detailed picture of your life.
Why local-only matters
Recon does all its work on your computer. It has no servers and no account — so there's no database of your scans for anyone to leak, sell, or hand over.
Why reversible matters
Every change Recon makes can be undone. Explore freely, tighten things up, and roll back instantly if something feels off. No fear of breaking your PC.
Six modules. One clear readout.
Every module reads first and reports in plain language. You decide what — if anything — to change.
Spyware & Telemetry Scanner
Finds pre-installed spyware and chatty telemetry hiding inside Windows and your apps.
Network Sniffer
Watches live connections for trackers and command-and-control (C2) servers — the channels malware uses to call home.
Device Map
Maps every device on your Wi-Fi so you can spot anything that shouldn't be there.
File Scanner
Statically inspects suspicious files — hashing, PE inspection, behavior/capability mapping, deobfuscation, and a 1-million-plus known-bad threat database — without ever running them. An optional Deep Scan emulates the file in a sandboxed virtual CPU.
OPSEC Guide
A plain-English playbook of privacy tools and habits. OPSEC means operational security — keeping your personal info out of the wrong hands.
Security Dictionary
Over 1,300 security and privacy terms explained simply, so the jargon stops being a wall.
Up and scanning in three steps.
Download
Grab the installer for Windows 10 or 11. It's a single file, ~98 MB.
Run it
Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" SmartScreen notice because the app is new. Click More info → Run anyway — it's safe, and you can verify the source on GitHub.
Scan
Open Black Crow Recon, then drag a file onto the File Scanner — or run a full system sweep for spyware and telemetry. You get a clear, plain-language readout in seconds. Nothing changes unless you choose to act.
Not just a scanner — a way to learn.
Recon is built to teach, not to lecture. The OPSEC Guide and 1,300-plus-term Dictionary turn good habits into a path you can actually follow — at your own pace.
